Surrey mayor readies team with new candidates

Mayor ready: Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke officially announced that she is seeking re-election this October.
Locke has a majority on council with Surrey Connect, in the 2022 election, after beating then-Mayor Doug McCallum.
- “With exciting opportunities and real challenges ahead, Surrey needs steady, proven leadership. I’m ready to continue that work with an even stronger team,” Locke said.
The slate: Locke is running again with a slate that include councillors Harry Bains, Pardeep Kooner, Rob Stutt and Gord Hepner.
New candidates: But Surrey Connect has two other candidates, including Rona Tepper, who works with victim services at the RCMP. She is married to Conservative party MLA Bryan Tepper (Surrey-Panorama).
Also joining the slate are Noemi Victorino, who is the executive director of Harvest to Hope. Victorino previously was a candidate with B.C. United candidate for Surrey-Guildford in 2024 before that party was merged with the BC Conservatives.
